Flora Website

SCOPE: HTML, CSS, Graphic Design

TIME: 3 days

TOOLS: GitHub, Sublime Text, Illustrator

Project & Process:

I created this website as a fun little side project during my spring break. I wanted to practice and enhance my skills in HTML and CSS, as well as creatively showcase my graphic design. For this reason, I decided to make a short and sweet site about a character I created, named Flora.

Coding:

I used Sublime Text to write the code for the website, and GitHub as a way to make it accessible through the web. I organized my code into two connected files - one for HTML and another for CSS. This ensured an easy way to navigate through the code and quickly debug if I needed to. After I had created the basis of the code, I utilized AI to refine some of the smaller elements and enhance the styling of the website.

Design:

I decided to try a new style of graphic design for this project and thought it would be fun to experiment with cartoons. I wanted a very fun, bubbly, and innocent vibe from the characters I created, so I used happy expressions and bright colors to convey that target feeling. Here are the designs I created and implemented in the site:

Results:

This quick and exciting mini-project refreshed my knowledge of HTML and CSS and allowed me to express my creativity in a unique way. Through this, I learned how to style through code, a new type of design, and was able to tie technology and design together in a fun way.
